The Mighty Tree Hunt

One of our favorite family traditions is to head out the day after Thanksgiving on our mighty tree hunt. We pack a lunch and hot chocolate, get all bundled up, load up in my dad's truck, drive up the mountain and head out in search of the perfect tree. While on our adventure we hike up big hills, sled in the snow and build a fire. This year, the tree tradition went a little something like this:

We put on some t-shirts (70 degree weather), loaded the kids in our new van and drove down the road about 2 miles, parked in the familiar parking lot of Walmart, loaded the kids up in the shopping cart, did a little grocery shopping & grabbed some toilet paper. Then we headed to the garden center to find the prize tree. There were several trees to choose from ranging in price and size. We examined the trees, picked one that would suit our house and loaded it in another shopping cart. We went to the self-checkout, ran the tree through the scanner and headed on our way home.

It was a bit different...but just as fun! We really did have a blast and I thoroughly enjoyed the looks we got from shoppers as I took pictures of the kids picking a tree and as we wheeled our tree down the aisles hitting passer byers. We are so happy to have our tree, we love it and it smells glorious. Happy Holidays everyone!

glorious huh?.......... wow I have had trees that smell great, wonderful, piney, and very piney, but I've never had one that smelled glorious before. I'll have to come over and give it a sniff.

Haahhhaaha. Too cute. And you'd never know by looking at your tree that WalMart cut it down and not Topher. :-)
How fun!
You are brave to put up a tree with three munchkins! It's my favorite part of Christmas decorating and tradition, but we've been moving or not allowed to have lights for two years, so I must be content witha fake mini-tree for now! At least there are cute mini-ornaments and battery-powered lights!
Merry Christmas from Us!
